So, bottom 6 it is! To be honest it’s exactly what we deserve.

This season has been one to forget; a campaign which morphed from one calamity to the next. When will it end? Saturday’s wretched performance against Livingston epitomised our season, a lack of anything cohesive, constructive, or creative.

It was another awful watch. With results going our way we had it in our own hands to make major strides toward the top half of the table but when the side can only muster three shots on target over 90 minutes what do you expect? The only positives I can take from the game are a clean sheet and a point closer to securing our Scottish Premiership status.

Bojan Miovski’s disallowed goal was a kick in the teeth, another hurtful blow delivered by our pal VAR. Upon viewing the replay, I confess I believed Angus MacDonald was offside when the ball was struck  but having seen various images splashed across social media, I am starting to doubt that call.

Why did the SFA not provide the visual lines? Their argument – that it was clear and obvious – is flawed. It was anything but. I’m honestly starting to wonder if I am watching a completely different match to those who administer our game here in Scotland. Talk about taking the fun out of the game. Thanks, VAR!

Next up Aberdeen welcome top six chasing Dundee to Pittodrie this coming Saturday. More than likely interim manager Peter Leven will remain in charge while the board continues to untie the colossal knot they have made for themselves while searching for the new manager.

Two months on from Barry Robson’s sacking we appear to be nowhere nearer appointing a gaffer. Like many players, I have no issues if Peter remains in charge from now until the end of May - but a decision must be made soon. Whoever comes in will need time to assess the players and evaluate a possible overhaul of the playing squad come the summer. This task can’t be done on a whim and without due care and attention. It will take time and we must afford the new manager room to manoeuvre. Like club legend Willie Miller said, “Why is it taking this long?”.

Last week I left you with a thought to ponder regarding who I would like to have seen appointed. I offered you the name of former Manchester City and East Germany striker Uwe Rosler. Well, we can forget that - Uwe recently signed a contract extension with his current club, Aarhus in Denmark. Another one bites the dust you could say. Are we now running on fumes when it comes to our options, have we exhausted all our main targets? Did we put all our eggs in one basket when it came to enticing Michael O’Neill? Has the Aberdeen job become a poisoned chalice? I have so many questions for the board.

It appears, if you are to believe the latest reports, that Aberdeen has not given up on Elfsborg manager Jimmy Thelin despite getting knocked back by the 46-year-old last month. From what I understand, he remains a priority but having approached him twice in the past 12 months, would he really want to come now? I have my doubts.

I shall continue to keep a close eye on the clubs' social media channels to see if there is any movement this week but to be honest I can’t see it and the wait will go on and on and on…
