Scotland’s sole representative in the GB team for the European Judo Championships, Stuart McWatt, lost out in the first round of the -90kgs category on the final day of the event in the French city of Montpellier.
26-year-old McWatt, from Inverurie has recently returned to action following his third ACL injury and had been in good form, winning his maiden European Open title last month.
However, he went down 1-0 to World Junior medallist, Alex Cret from Romania, in his opening bout.
