Glasgow council council officials have met police officers amid ongoing discussions over allegations of corruption, malpractice and cronyism across west central Scotland.

The meeting, revealed in yesterday’s London Times, comes after series of Herald stories on concerns about procurement at local authorities across the region.

Glasgow Council has agreed to hand over the results of its own internal investigations in to one of its senior officers, Brian Devlin who, as reported in The Herald, resigned last year after a lengthy suspension.

The council last year passed on evidence from Mr Devlin’s secretary’s computer revealing that the former leader of neighbouring North Lanarkshire holidayed with a contractor.

The police, who have yet to launch a formal inquiry, are understood to be looking at matters inside and outside Glasgow.
