YOUR article on Scottish actress Louise Linton (“Scottish actress plays her biggest role yet”, The Herald, February 18) describes her as a Scots public schoolgirl and goes on to say she attended St George’s School for Girls and Fettes College both in Edinburgh.
Private and independent these prestigious schools may be, but public they are not. Public schools in Scotland were and are attended by the hoi polloi, the opposite of what appears to be the case in England.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
