I NOTE with interest that Edinburgh City Council has appointed a numbers of advisors to progress the development of the extension to Leith ( City trams extension scheme has project manager”, The Herald, February 22).

It is worrying that the council is prepared to spend £1m-plus pounds of council tax-payers’ money at this time of so-called austerity, especially when one notes the inquiry into the original trams fiasco has not even reported.

Our elected officials in Edinburgh, council and government, seem hell bent on wasting our money while they can't even keep the streets clean or school buildings safe. Austerity, what austerity?
