A PROPERTY developer accused of organising the murder of a Scottish businessman in Australia handed over hundreds of thousands of dollars to the man who paid the hitman, a court has heard.

Millionaire Ron Medich on trial over the murder of his former business partner Michael McGurk, 45, who was originally from Govan and was gunned down outside his home in Sydney on September 3, 2009.

Senad Kaminic, a former driver for Mr Medich's close associate Lucky Gattellari, has already been been convicted of playing a part in Mr McGurk's murder, but received a shorter sentence and indemnity against other charges if he agreed to testify against Mr Medich.

Appearing in the witness box for a second day, he said that he had received a cheque for $250,000 from Mr Medich's office in September 2009, which was to go to Mr McGurk's killers.

Kaminic said: "I can't remember seeing Mr Medich but I got the cheque from his receptionist," he said.

The former Bosnian soldier also told how he picked up Mr Medich from his home to drive him to the airport, and the businessman handed him a bag, saying: 'Here's $150,000." Kaminic added that Lucky Gattellari told him it was for the murder.

The court has heard that before the murder, hitman Haissam Safetli held up a newspaper article with a picture of Mr McGurk, saying "this man is causing you a lot of trouble", and even offered to kill him for free.

Kaminic has previously said that Gattellari had asked him to organise surveillance of Mr McGurk, who was involved in a bitter court dispute with Mr Medich.

The Scot was shot in the back of the head in front of his young son as he parked outside his home.

Mr Medich denies playing a part in his murder. The trial, before the New South Wales Supreme Court, continues.
