Concern is growing for a missing 77-year-old man who has not been seen for two days.

William Rattray was last seen in the Letham area of Perth at around 7.40pm on Tuesday and his silver Vauxhall Astra car was later found parked and unattended in Earnbank, Bridge of Earn, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Specialist teams from Police Scotland, including the dogs unit and search officers from the operational support division, along with Tayside Mountain Rescue and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are scouring the Bridge of Earn area including the River Earn for any sign of the pensioner.

Local officers are also carrying out door-to-door inquiries and reviewing CCTV.

Mr Rattray was last seen wearing black dress trousers, a black waist-length waterproof jacket and black gloves.

Police say his disappearance is "out of character" and there is significant concern for his welfare.

Officers are also appealing for an elderly man seen walking on Kinclaven Road towards Stanley at about 5pm on Wednesday to come forward as he may have information to assist the inquiry.

He is described as aged in his late 70s to early 80s, of slim build, and was wearing a beige jacket which was waist length. He has grey or white hair.

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Mr Rattray is urged to call 101 or speak to any police officer.
