A TEACHER who became embroiled in a sex scandal after striking up a relationship with a pupil has split from the ex-schoolboy after a two year relationship.

Eppie Sprung Dawson, 29, moved in with Matthew Robinson for almost two years after they were caught having an affair, but their property is now up for sale.

Reports suggest Mr Robertson, 20, has now moved back home with his family after breaking up with his former teacher, who lost her marriage and her job at St Joseph's College, Dumfries, over the affair.

His father Jonathan was reported as saying: "He says they're finished. It has just run its course the way it's supposed to. He doesn't realise he has been manipulated all this time. He says he wants to be friends."

He added: "She was always going out with her pals and leaving him at home.

"He's been with the girl for three years and achieved sod all.

"He didn't have to do anything and was getting money from her by all accounts.

"There's no getting away from it that if he'd been at home, he would have been like his brother -- he has a job, a car and a wage."

Ms Sprung Dawson was convicted of breaching a position of trust and struck off after she was caught in a compromising position with the pupil, then 17, following a school dance in December 2012.

She was placed on the sex offenders register and separated from her husband Ranald, son of former Solicitor General Lord Dawson.
