Theresa May will meet outgoing US President Barack Obama and key European leaders in Germany for talks next month, Downing Street has announced.

Syria's brutal civil war, along with Russian aggression in Ukraine and the on-going crisis in Libya will be the focus of the gathering called by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

French president Francois Hollande and Italy's Matteo Renzi will also attend the meeting of the Quint - an informal group of Western powers.

A Downing Street spokesman said: "The Prime Minister will meet her Quint counterparts - the leaders of the US, Germany, France and Italy - in Berlin on November 18, where they will discuss a range of global issues expected to include Syria, Libya, and Russia/Ukraine."
