What is it?

A device that allows calls to be routed from your landline to your smartphone.

It's been a while since the humble landline telephone was the primary means of communication with loved ones. The adoption of the mobile was swift due to the freedom and versatility it offered but its corded cousin isn't dead yet.

The Voice Bridge from Invoxia is a collaboration between landline and mobile phones to ensure you never miss a call, and includes a few interesting extras.

Good points?

You can make and receive calls via your landline number to reduce costs to local rates while you are away on holiday. Phone companies don't generally like setting up forwards like this which has meant that under traditional means it can be a bit of hassle.

The Voice Bridge app also integrates with your smartphone contacts so you never need to tap into the old grey matter in order to recite a landline number. Five smartphone or tablet devices can be connected to the unit giving a degree of flexibility.

The hardware is simple to install: you simply connect your landline and internet router to the device and can then start making calls.

Poor mobile signals at home can be overcome by utilising the WiFi signal of the router.

Bad points?

Only Apple devices are catered for at the moment although Android support is being tested.

Best for ...

Those who primarily work from home and depend on a landline for their business.

Avoid if ...

You don't have a wired phone connection to your home.
