A new collection of ceramic offerings from artist Rosie McLachlan is on display in Arusha Gallery. Discover urns, shrines and spirit houses that have been fired in the subterranean tomb-like anagama kiln, an ancient type of wood-fired kiln that was brought to Japan from China via Korea in the fifth century.

Sewing Conflict: Photography, War and Embroidery

Jenny Matthews’ work deals with issues of dispossession and human rights, with a particular emphasis on the lives of women and girls. This solo exhibition showcases a series of photo quilts she has been making since 2020. Each photo has been printed onto cotton linen, stitched together and embellished with embroidery on material most often sourced from the countries in which the original images were made.

Un-Earthed

Homestead Exhibition

Homestead features a collection of new work from Out of the Blueprint artist-in-residence and illustrator Lauren Cory that explores themes of identity, change and belonging. Inspired by retro video game graphics, the artist creates hand-drawn pastel landscapes that blend the cosy, nostalgic comfort of home with a sense of something bigger on the horizon.

The George War Collection: Images of Old Maryhill

Explore 1970s Maryhill through the eyes of a local man. The late George Ward used his trusty cameras to document and immortalise the buildings and characters which were integral to Maryhill and Glasgow – many of which have since disappeared. Discover old 35mm photographs of streets and canal landscapes, as well as pieces of street furniture that Ward salvaged from depots and skips in the hope that “maybe someday someone will be interested”.

Botanical Art and Sculpture

This exhibition at the Scottish Ornithologists Club presents work by members of the Scottish Society of Botanical Artists alongside sculptures by Ellen McCann. The SSBA promotes and encourages botanical art in Scotland and for this display, the artists took their inspiration from plants found in the wild in Scotland.The paintings are accompanied by ceramic sculptures from McMann, also inspired by plants.
