A cute collection of some of the funniest images from the animal kingdom have been unveiled at an awards ceremony in London.

The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, open to amateur and professional photographers, was set up this year to celebrate nature and raise awareness for international wildlife conservation charity the Born Free Foundation.

The winner was Julian Rad from Austria for Rush Hour, for this dynamic and amusing image of a speedy wild European hamster. His prizes included a Nikon D750 camera and a seven-day photographic safari with Tanzanian based wildlife photographer and competition founder Paul Joynson-Hicks.

Among the judges were comedian Hugh Dennis, Born Free Foundation president Will Travers and wildlife TV presenter Kate Humble, who said: “The standard of photography was incredibly high, with a huge range of subjects. Not only did we laugh a lot, we were also all reminded of the wide and wonderful variety of creatures we are lucky enough to share our planet with.”
