MY house of the week has still to be built but sometimes a drawing is all it takes to fall in love, writes Beverley Brown.

And in this instance it started as a curve on a Post-It note drawn by architectural technician Craig Fyvie, of Baxter Design Company in Peterhead, who was given free reign to design an eco house for a 1.3 acre plot at Cabrach, near Stuartfield in Aberdeenshire.

The detailed plan includes a living room, dining kitchen, four bedrooms (two en-suite), bathroom and integral garage, with insulation and energy performance far exceeding current standards. But what makes it so appealing is that it sits snugly within the landscape, smothered with a turf roof. It will cost around £500,000 to build – but as a one-off home in a stunning location, it could be worth twice that when completed. Already in the running for a design award, this is one to watch – and if it does get built, I want to see it. The plot is on sale at offers over £90,000, full details from Aberdein Considine’s Aberdeen office.
