ROYAL Dutch Shell’s head of exploration Ceri Powell, who has been included on Fortune Magazine’s list of the world’s most powerful women, is moving to a new post. The Welsh executive will become managing director of Brunei Shell Petroleum in March. Reuters news agency noted Ms Powell recently highlighted a change in exploration strategy at Shell. The company has shifted its focus from frontier territories such as Alaska closer to existing production operations in areas including Brunei. Ms Powell will be succeeded by Marc Gerrits, a 30-year Shell veteran who is in charge of strategy at its exploration and production arm. Ms Powell ranked 21st in Fortune Magazine’s listing of powerful women for 2014. She has run Shell’s exploration effort for seven years and has an honorary doctorate from Heriot-Watt University.
