Rural business expands at legal firm
LAW firm Gillespie Macandrew has recruited Douglas Reid to its growing Land and Rural Business team, as the firm continues to expand.
Mr Reid, who arrives as an associate, has more than 15 years’ experience in agricultural law, the last 11 of which were spent as a senior advisor.
In addition, he brings with him what Gillespie Macandrew described as considerable experience in dealing with both landlords and tenants in all types of agricultural leases.
He has worked with a wide range of clients with varied business interests offering advice on issues from buying and selling estates, farms, fields, forests and fishing interests to business management advice. He also provides opinion work for other lawyers and land agents.
The firm’s land and rural business team now includes six partners, one director and five associates.
Welcoming Mr Reid to the firm, Gillespie Macandrew chief executive, Chris West, said: “I am delighted to welcome Douglas to our Land and Rural Business team at Gillespie Macandrew. His extensive expertise and legal skills will further enhance our already leading team and add even more value to the range of services we provide to clients.”
Partner and director moves at C+T
ACCOUNTANCY firm Chiene + Tait (C+T) has promoted Hazel Gough to partner and appointed Alastair Herbert as its new business support director.
Me Herbet’s remit focuses on developing new business opportunities and building client relationships across the firm, which opened its third UK office in Inverness last month.
His appointment coincides with the promotion of Hazel Gough, C+T’s former director of personal and business tax services, to the role of partner. Ms Gough, who specialises in tax planning, rural estates, property and private clients, joined the firm in 2012. She is also the Chartered Institute of Taxation’s representative on the ICAS tax committee which makes representations to government on consultations and legislation, helping to develop UK taxation policy.
C+T’s managing partner, Carol Flockhart, said: “Alastair brings great enthusiasm and a wealth of experience to Chiene + Tait. We are delighted to welcome him to the team and look forward to supporting him in his role during this exciting phase of growth.
“I’m also delighted to announce Hazel’s promotion as the firm’s newest partner. Since she joined four and a half years ago she has played a vital role in developing our tax service offering and has established herself as a hugely capable adviser across her wide spectrum of clients.”
