Jarvis joins First Bus from Stagecoach

FIRST Bus has appointed Stagecoach executive Andrew Jarvis as its managing director in Glasgow and Scotland.
Mr Jarvis will take up the position on April 18. He is currently managing director of Stagecoach’s east Scotland operations.
Under the new hierarchy the managing directors at First Bus’s other Scottish businesses, Aberdeen and Scotland East, will report to Mr Jarvis.
He said: “Following a 26-year career in the bus industry, the last six of which have been in Scotland, I am delighted to be joining the teams at First Glasgow and across Scotland in the spring as Managing Director. I am looking forward to getting to know the teams, understanding the detail of the business and working with our customers and stakeholders.”
Andrew will report to Dave Alexander, divisional director for First Bus, who called him “one of the bus industry’s most respected leaders”. 
Mr Jarvis was also managing director of Stagecoach Bluebird and operations director at Stagecoach South.

New chair for IoD Edinburgh

JULIE Ashworth, an experienced executive director and chair of retail technology start-up Clear Returns, has been appointed the new chair of Institute of Directors (IoD) Scotland’s Edinburgh branch. 
Ms Ashworth has previously held retail director positions and executive advisory roles at The Spirit Group, IBM and Marks and Spencer. 
The IoD also highlighted that she provides board level advisory services to FTSE companies and charitable organisations, and co-founded organisational development consultancy Broadreach. She succeeds former branch chairs Alan Thornburrow and George Hall.  
Commenting on the role, she said: “In the current climate of change and economic uncertainty, the IoD has never been more relevant to Edinburgh businesses as a place to connect with other directors.”
David Watt, executive director of the IoD in Scotland, said: “We look forward to working with Julie to grow IoD’s 650 strong membership in Edinburgh.”

Partners named at Anderson Strathern

ANDERSON Strathern has Douglas McLachlan and Martin Campbell as partners. The legal firm has are also 16 other promotions across the firm with nine new Senior Solicitors and Associates and seven new Senior Associates. 
Douglas McLachlan joined Anderson Strathern from DWF in 2015 and helped grow the firm’s corporate offering with his expertise in intellectual property (IP), information technology (IT), and competition law.
He is also an accredited specialist in public procurement law and an active member of Anderson Strathern’s Food & Drink sector group. 
Martin Campbell leads the firm’s specialist tax practice and provides estate, succession and tax planning advice to many of the firm’s largest family clients and their other advisers. Martin is double accredited, with recognition in both tax and trust law.
