United Auctions sold 111 pedigree Aberdeen Angus bulls at Perth yesterday to a top of 18,000gns for one from JF Lascelles, Balmachie, Carnoustie and an average of £5735 (-37 on the year) for a 76 per cent clearance.
Sixty-five pedigree Beef Shorthorns sold to 26,000 guineas for J&J Gibb, Glenisla, Perthshire to average £5914 (+£1566) for an 87 per cent clearance.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1539 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £90 per head and 200.1p per kg to average 166.9p (-2.4p on the week).
There were also 707 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £127 for Texels and £61.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 44 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 247p per kg and an average of 212.7p (-2p), while 13 prime bullocks peaked at 237p and levelled at 218.2p (+3.8p).
In the rough ring 42 beef cows sold to 201p and averaged 134.4p (+5p).
There were also 1550 prime hoggs that sold to £95 and 196p to average 164p (-3p).
The 630 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £113 for a Suffolk and average £71, while light ewes peaked at £69 for Cheviots and levelled at £38.
The firm also sold 12 prime heifers in Carlisle to a top of 225.5p and an average of 198.4p (-6p), while 16 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 215.5p and levelled at 192.9p (-2.5p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 173.5p and averaged 149.2p (no comparison). Thirty-three prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 223.5p and averaged 202.7p (+10.1p), while 43 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 182.5p and levelled at 146.4p (+10.5p).
In the rough ring 107 beef cows sold to 207p and averaged 136.5p (+8.3p), while 170 dairy cows peaked at 149.5p and levelled at 101.1p (+4.2p).
There were also 1488 prime hoggs that sold to £107 and 274.4p to average 167.8p (+1.7p).
The 150 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £93 for Suffolks and average £69.21, while light ewes peaked at £55 for Blackfaces and levelled at £43.73.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 17 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 249p and an average of 230.7p (-3.1p), while 4 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 206p (-4p). Nine prime, B&W bullocks sold to 136p and averaged 133.3p (-6.1p).
In the rough ring 28 beef cows averaged 125.3p (no change), while 48 dairy cows levelled at 98p (-0.3p).
The firm also sold 1821 prime hoggs to a top of £96.50 and 218.6p to average 171.4p (-0.1p).
The 349 heavy ewes to go under the auctioneer's hammer sold to £127.50 for a Texel and average £68.24, while 242 light ewes peaked at £64.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £42.29.
