C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 67 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 232.5p per kg and an average of 198p (+3p on the fortnight), while 122 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 281p and levelled at 198.6p (-1.7p). Twenty store, B&W bullocks sold to 183.1p and averaged 140p (no comparison), while 19 store bulls peaked at 245.5p and levelled at 220p (+47p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1465 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £89 per head and 207.3p per kg to average 163.1p (-3p on the week).
There were also 653 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £133 for Texels and £54.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 41 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 242p and an average of 213.3p (-10.7p), while 26 prime bullocks peaked at 238p and levelled at 213.8p (-6.2p).
In the rough ring 53 beef cows sold to 183p and averaged 133.4p (+1.4p).
There were also 1721 prime hoggs that sold to £103 and 230p to average 164.5p (-3.5p).
The 463 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £101 for Suffolks and average £73, while light ewes peaked at £67 for Cheviots and levelled at £45.
The firm also sold 23 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 233.5p and an average of 192.9p (-14.3p), while 20 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 223.5p and levelled at 198.6p (no change). Seven prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 166.5p and averaged 142.9p (no comparison). Eighteen prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 211.5p and averaged 186.4p (-4.1p), while 49 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 175.5p and levelled at 146.3p (-0.6p).
In the rough ring 117 beef cows sold to 193.5p and averaged 126.6p (-1.9p), while 214 dairy cows peaked at 131.5p and levelled at 98.8p (-0.6p).
There were also 1592 prime hoggs forward that sold to £100 and 260p to average 163.1p (+0.2p).
A small show of 137 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £98.50 for Beltex and average £66.60, while light ewes peaked at £56.50 for Hill cheviots and levelled at £39.08p.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 30 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 245p and an average of 228.6p (-2.1p), while 10 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 212p and levelled at 201.1p (-3.4p). Thirteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 155p and averaged 140.2p (+5.1p).
In the rough ring 57 beef cows averaged 119p (-4.5p) and 41 dairy cows levelled at 97p (+6.9p).
The firm also sold 2084 prime hoggs to a top of £94 and 225p to average 165p (-4p).
The 584 heavy ewes forward sold to £139.50 for Texels and averaged £68.44, while 281 light ewes peaked at £56.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £39.96.
