THE charitable foundation established by Aberdeen Asset Management has provided around £140,000 funding for charities in Scotland this year. Aberdeen Charitable Foundation supported organisations working in sectors such as youth work and community development under its policy of trying to improve the lives of people living in the regions in which the fund management firm operates. The recipients of funding included The Yard adventure playground in Edinburgh, which runs session for children with disabilities and their families and Place2Be, which provides mental health support in schools in the city. The foundation contributed to Aberdeenshire communities affected when the River Dee burst its banks and to Penumbra, which runs mental health sessions in the Granite City. Noting Aberdeen Asset Management has around 1,000 staff in Scotland, the foundation’s Lynda Affleck said it looked forward to supporting a wide variety of causes across the country in 2017.
