AUSTIN, Texas-based troubadour Bob Cheevers plays public as well as private concerts in Scotland this month.
Cheevers was born and raised in Memphis and moved to Los Angeles in the late 1960s, finding work in writing music for television programmes and advertising jingles. Having had a near-miss when his Big City Gambler was scheduled for an Elvis Presley recording session at the time of the singer’s death, Cheevers then spent fifteen years as a jobbing songwriter in Nashville and touring as support to stars including Johnny Cash, before becoming part of a Texas singer-songwriter scene that includes Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett. He plays Heart of Hawick this evening, Green Hotel, Kinross (Wednesday), and Greyfriars, Perth (Saturday) as well as house concerts in Perth and Airdrie.

GUITARIST Don Paterson’s upcoming concerts in St Andrews and Glasgow will now be reunions of the Celtic-jazz band Lammas in all but name.
Paterson, pictured, who is also a multi-award-winning poet, co-led Lammas with saxophonist Tim Garland throughout the 1990s and following a successful collaboration with Garland and keyboards player Steve Hamilton in Eyemouth at the weekend – the guitarist and saxophonist’s first appearance together in sixteen years – he will be honouring all immediate commitments with this line-up. The concerts at Byre Theatre, St Andrews on Saturday, February 25 and Tron Theatre, Glasgow on Sunday, February 26 will feature Lammas material alongside newer compositions and will be reunions not just for Paterson and Garland but also for Garland and Hamilton who played together in former Yes, King Crimson and Genesis drummer, Bill Bruford’s Earthworks.

EDINBURGH music promoters Click Clack present Americana, jazz and experimental music in their February night triple bill at Henry’s Cellar Bar in Morrison Street.
Country blues, gospel, folk and old time jazz duo Delightful Squalor, comprising Cera Impala from Flagstaff, Arizona and Lake Montgomery from Paris, Texas, will appear in between bass guitarist Dave Conway’s jazz-funk combo Fake Nudes and saxophonist Steve Kettley’s Odd Times. Doors open at 7:00pm.

MASTERS of story-telling dance Northern Ballet brings its new version of the story of Casanova to Edinburgh's Festival Theatre directly after its world premiere in Leeds.
This version of the lusty Italian is being choreographed by Dundee-born Kenneth Tindall and runs in Edinburgh from Thursday March 23 to Saturday March 25. It is designed by Christopher Oram and the original score by Kerry Muzzey will be played live by the Northern Ballet Sinfonia.
