Has Political Correctness Gone Mad? (C4, 9pm)

There's no doubt 2016 will go down in history as an eventful year, and for many, the two biggest news stories – Brexit and the election of US President Trump – mark the downfall of the age of political correctness. In this provocative film, Trevor Phillips investigates whether the liberal urge to save minorities from offence by silencing populists and right-wingers has backfired and caused a seismic shift in culture. Phillips believes that banning controversial opinions and images has resulted in large sections of the electorate feeling angry and alienated. This will make for uncomfortable viewing at times, but is he correct, and do we need to confront these beliefs head on in order for society to progress?

Madame Tussaud: A Legend in Wax (BBC4, 9pm)

As kids there's something magical about going to "Madame Two Swords". And for adults keen to make their friends do a double take at those profile shots inside the world's most well-known waxworks, it also has a moth/flame-like appeal. But how did the whole business begin? Now is a chance to find out as this documentary takes a closer look at the single mother and entrepreneur who travelled across the Channel to England. Though the odds were stacked against her, she overcame adversity to establish her enduring brand.

Mafia Women with Trevor McDonald (ITV, 9pm)

The veteran broadcaster presents the second of two programmes lifting the lid on the riches, the pain and the sense of betrayal that life with a mobster can bring - and this time his journey brings him to a series of secret locations meeting mob wives who are all hiding from the Mafia with their partners. They include Donna Mangiavillano, her daughters Stefanie and Victoria and husband Salvatore, who once masterminded bank heists for the mob - only to betray his bosses to the FBI. Now the family live in fear that one day the Mafia will exact its revenge.
