ABERDEEN promoters Jazz at the Blue Lamp have announced their programme for the autumn. Norwegian quartet and recent visitors to Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival Pixel play at the Gallowgate venue on September 8, followed by guitarist Nigel Price’s Organ Trio (15th) and Irish singer Lauren Kinsella (22nd). October’s guests are guitarist Kevin Mackenzie’s trio (6th), Italian-American trio Periscopes (13th), Scottish National Jazz Orchestra alto saxophonist Martin Kershaw’s quintet (20th) and award-winning, London-based trumpeter Laura Jurd’s group Dinosaur (27th). All concerts begin at 8:00pm.

PIANIST Brian Kellock has added a concert at Howden Park Centre in Livingston to his trio’s Edinburgh Fringe run. Kellock, pictured, will be joined by bassist Kenny Ellis and drummer John Rae, who is returning to Scotland briefly from New Zealand, in the group that featured on his award-winning Live at Henry’s album in 2001. The trio will be paying tribute to the great Harlem stride pianist and composer Fats Waller and will appear at the Jazz Bar, Edinburgh on August 18, 23, 24 and 25 and Howden Park Centre on August 20.

EDINBURGH-based singer Michelle Burke is performing a special lunchtime version of her Step into My Parlour show on the Edinburgh Fringe as a spin-off from Edinburgh Festival Theatre’s dementia awareness project, Forget Me Not. The Cork-born former member of Celtic Connections favourites Cherish the Ladies whose show features parlour songs, music hall songs, family stories and household tips, was commissioned by the Kings Theatre to go on a three-week tour in Edinburgh in June as part of Forget Me Not and will perform Step into My Parlour at the Famous Spiegeltent in St Andrew Square on Saturday, August 20 as well as giving an evening performance on Sunday, August 14 at 7:45pm.

SPHERE at RSS, the organisation that presents Saturday lunchtime concerts at Renfield St Stephen’s Parish Church in Bath Street, Glasgow, has announced its programme for the autumn. The Kentigern Quartet open the programme on September 3, with pianist Edward Cohen following on September 17. The Style 85 Harp Duo, featuring Anna Kate Pearson and Gwen Mairi Yorke, plays on October 8 and tenor Glen Cunningham appears on October 15. The concerts begin at 1pm.
