Call The Midwife is back for a fifth series and this time the programme is tackling the social revolution of the 60s including the Thalidomide scandal.
Known as one of the worst medical scandals in history, when thousands of babies were born with phocomelia – malformation of the limbs – after mothers took the anti-sickness drug.

And viewers praised the programme for tackling the important subject matter sensitively.
