Two of the world’s leading improvising musicians, New York-based double bassist William Parker and drummer Hamid Drake play a concert with Amsterdam-based American saxophonist John Dikeman at the Poetry Club in Eastvale Place, Glasgow on Monday, September 7. Parker, who first came to international attention with maverick pianist Cecil Taylor’s group, and Drake, who has worked with Don Cherry, Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp and David Murray, have played together in countless formations over many years and are key figures in international avant-jazz. Their trio with Dikeman will be supported by Death Shanties. Doors open at 7pm.
